Greetings and welcome. Cold and some snow have finally invaded NJ (in December, to the shock of absolutely no one) where I live, so with that comes some extra inspiration and motivation for song writing...for whatever reason this is a very fertile period in creation for me. Looking for a record release with all the trimmings (stuffing, perhaps) in the first half of 2022. I have 2 records worth of material and it is a matter of track selection and organization at this point. Another odd consideration is the release of cover song material, as I have several what I call "proof of concept" type stuff before I started Isolus officially, to see if I could cut the proverbial mustard. I can indeed slice mustard. At least to me, anyway.
I have released a new video for the song "hinterlands", live as of Dec 3, 2021! Extremely excited to see over 10k views for Day 1. This song is started with inspiration from 30 Seconds to Mars' "Capricorn", similar subject matter lyrically anyway. I find myself going back to that well again and again, thematically. The song is a parable about running from your past, but also a Skynet-esque parallel to AI and computers taking control of everything. For instance: "I Run" is a clear connection to a running algorithm.... thought it was a fun word play.
As always, grappling with the genre questions. What is Isolus? alternative? modern rock? gothic? electronica? rock? songs "hinterlands" is heavier and has no shoegaze elements and yet is not electronic like "fix your smile"...I have no idea as every song takes a different flavor it seems.
If you have a moment, please listen to some of the songs, and suggest the genre you feel most fits with a majority of what I have released thus far. help_computa at yahoo.com is quickest way to reach me....and thank you!
HINTERLANDS LYRICS
So I surrender
and rend asunder
all I remember
I will dismember
and then i
pull away my hands
and then I
move away my eyes
I walk away,
myself, alone
alone
alone
And I
I run
And I
I run
I run
Station to station
no medication
world to world
blink to blink
and then I
stare at the abyss
again its staring back
again
awaiting this again
and I
and I
and I
alert
alert
aware
awake
and I
I run
And I
I run
